America to Obama: “You Lie!”

January 7, 2010

I remember when Obama was on the campaign trail and I remember when he said in the 2008 Presidential debate, “In bringing all parties together, not negotiating behind closed doors, but bring all parties together and broadcasting those negotiations on CSPAN so the American people can see what those choice are.” I actually had a little hope that that may be true. I truly did. I hoped that I would be able to turn on CSPAN and see what was going on behind the doors that we’d been locked out of for years. I hoped that it would be a new age in politics where transparency and accountability were what kept politicians in check. I hoped. But like many Americans, as the first year of the Obama Administration and a full year of a Democrat super majority in congress started to unfold, I lost hope. Each day it was the same old stuff, back room dealings, sweetheart deals, pork bribes, all while Democrats were claiming they’re being transparent.

In the spirit of Congressman Joe Wilson, I want to scream at President Obama, “YOU LIE!!!!!” I’m not even a supporter, but I held out hope that he would at least keep his word on ONE campaign promise. Yeah, it’s a major downfall of mine. I like to HOPE people are as honest as they claim, even while I’m skeptical, I tend to hold a tiny bit of hope that just maybe I will be proven wrong, unfortunately, just as with people I know personally, I’m more often than not disappointed. The one thing Obama beat us over the head with while campaigning was transparency. But now we’re learning that he didn’t really intend to be transparent on Health Care or any other legislation, he just wanted to have more press conferences and hold a few town halls and that is his definition of transparency. Unfortunately, most of America doesn’t agree.

The debate of health care has reached fever pitch, and according to a January 4th Rasmussen poll, 52% of Americans are opposed to the health care bill while 42% support it. It’s still close, but the numbers don’t lie, a majority of Americans are against the legislation. But the White House and Capitol Hill don’t really care. That’s obvious when we see tactics like the Senate passing bills on holidays, working weekends to finagle a deal, which ends up with even more drama. In case you missed it, they bought Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson’s vote by offering to pay for the states medicaid for…EVER, the CBO estimates the cost to be $100 million over 10 years. (In full disclosure, Vermont and Massachusetts are also getting money.) Nelson’s vote was #60 of #60 and he was pursued by Democratic leaders because he was holding out due to the abortion language in the bill. So they gave Nebraska a TON of money, and Nelson caved. Typical spineless liberal. But I digress…

The health care bill is a giant mess, and now senate and house leaders are hashing out the final details behind closed doors. CSPAN Chairman Brian Lamb sent out a letter to Capitol Hill leaders asking for cameras to be allowed into negotiations. Predictably, they won’t be. Well, that’s not entirely true CSPAN will get an hour, ONE FREAKING HOUR. How generous. So now, not only is the right up in arms, asking, “Where’s the transparency, man?!?” We’ve got members on the left going after Obama, like CNN’s Jack McCaffery.

I guess the most amazing thing to me is, our leaders aren’t even trying to lie about it, they’re not trying to claim they’re being transparent. Their goal is to get the bill onto Obama’s desk in time for the State of the Union speech, transparency is out the window so the Democrat leaders will look good. Today, Nancy Pelosi met with president Obama and afterward she said, “The House and Senate plan to put together the final health care reform bill behind closed doors according to an agreement by top Democrats.” She could have just said, “We won. Shuddup constituents, no one cares what you want. It’s not about you, its about MEEEEEEEE. Bwahahahaaa!!!” then few off on her broom and I would have felt the same way. I’m simply amazed that more of her supporters aren’t at her door with pitchforks and torches. Most of us on the right saw this coming, we felt it in our bones. We’re not shocked. But the left? The ever so silent left, really, how are you feeling about all that HopeAndChange now?

And to President Obama, YOU LIE.

I don’t like to call people names like Comedian/Senator Al Franken. Dark-Humor Funnyman Al Franken, resorts to calling people names. Take his satirical book, “Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them,” that kind of name calling is so typical of those who are bankrupt of ideas.

Despite my hatred of calling people undeserving names, I agree with Candice, in this case, the label ‘Liar’ clearly applies to Obama . He repeated his lying pledge to keep the health care debate transparent, it was his mantra.

If you campaign on a central theme, and then don’t even make the slightest attempt to make good on that central theme, then indeed you are the worst kind of lier, you are a backstabber.

There is no doubt about it he lied and the government continues to lie to the American people. As Candice pointed out they also are not trying to hide it in any way shape or form.

The kicker is they KNOW once they get legislation pushed through it will NOT be overturned. A prime example is trying to put bits into the bill which prevent it from being modified or overturned with normal Senate rules.

The constitution is out the window and we are sitting by while our country is being overthrown.
